Sotheby's HK wine sales start auction week on right footing

And they are off... The autumn sales of Sotheby's Hong Kong started this weekend with a two-day wine sale, which raised a combined $12.7 million.

The first sale on Oct 1, The Classic Cellar from A Great American Collector VIII, was a white glove one wtih 100 percent of the lot sold. It was also 100 percent sold by value, quite a feat.

The second sale , Finest & Rarest Wines, Including The Ultimate Nine From The Bordeaux Winebank Collection, was not quite as strong, but showed that top-flight châteaux from The Bordeaux Winebank Collection and the Lafite direct-from-the-cellars sold by family members, continue to inspire complete client confidence. Wines from Domaine de la Romanée Conti also continue on their upward trend as connoisseurs recognise their rarity and unique quality.
