Opening - Koh Sang Wood @ The Cat Street Gallery in HK

I first discovered this Korean-American artist Koh Sang Woo at the Affordable Art fair in Singapore. He creates vivid images of human figures with an approach that adopts painting, performance and traditional photographic techniques. The artist’s work is characterised by the development of a blue tone photograph that captures his subjects using negative film. The prints are the product of a labour intensive process where the artist adorn his sitter's bodies with props such as butterflies and flowers and also applies water-based paint across their body and hair. By reversing the colour and light in the exposure, he gives an unmistakable visual strengh and intense coloring. Love it!
