Auction houses Borobudur and Larasati are teaming up for the first time to hold a joint evening sale of Contemporary and Modern Art on January 12. The auctioneers are taking advantage of the Art Stage fair and smartly holding their viewing and auction at the same venue, MBS.
There are only 80 lots on offer, but a lot of big Southeast Asian masters, with several Sunaryo's, Affandi's, Hendra Gunawan's and Lee Man Fong's, along with three very nice Jean le Mayeur de Merpres.

Amongst contemporary works, Rudi Mantofani's Looking to the Earth from 2006-2007 is a particularly strong commentary on the damages we inflict on mother earth. There is also a beautiful Ronald Ventura , which is likely to go much further that the S$65,000-$80,000 estimate.
