Aug 21 Opening - He Jia @ Art Seasons Gallery

“Carnival: Paintings and Installations by He Jia” is the artist's first solo exhibition in Singapore and its feature some of its 2007 – 2010 paintings alon with a new installation made of 700 stainless steel butterflies. His hyper-realistc painting are a riot of colors and details as he draws the viewes in a strange visual world, where seemingly unrelated disarray of hamburgers, cars, glamorous women, zebras, generic buildings, and fresh fruits are jumbled together. The massive scale of his works – easily over 2 meters long – amplify the experience (But could Chinese artists stop painting only for people with huge houses!!!)). These works are the artist commentary on the rapid transformation of the Chinese economy and today's avid consumerism.
