Opening - Contemporary Art from the Philippines @ Rossi & Rossi, London

"Stories of Dreams and Realities - Contemporary Art from the Philippines" is a new exhibition opening today at Rossi and Rossi art gallery in London, in collaboration with The Drawing Room Gallery in Manila. 
It showcases works by 11 artists, including Alfredo Aquilizan, Roderico Jose Daroy, Kawayan de Guia, Kiko Escora, Riel Hilario, Troy Ignacio, Jose Legaspi, Diokno Pasilan, Lirio Salvador, Mark Salvatus, and Trek Valdizno. The Brisbane based Aquilizan, who usually works with his wife, often explores the themes of migration and displacement with his installation (They currently have a beautifully poetic piece at the Singapore Art Museum -- angel wings made out of the slippers of inmates from Changi Prison). Young artist Kiko Escora is known for the strong draftsmanship of his black and sculptor Lirio Salvador recreates music instruments, that combine visual and sound forms, with found objects.
